Wow. I can't believe it's here. And yet I can! It's seemed like forever getting here, and yet like yesterday that I was bringing him home. I wasn't sure how I'd handle today. Jump for joy or cry with nostalgia? Turns out, neither really. He did excellent, was so excited, and ran into the classroom after enduring a few pictures for me. Then he came back out, gave me a big hug and went back in. That's when the tears almost came :)
So what does a first day of school look like? First it starts off with a big breakfast of waffles....that he was too nervous to finish :)
Then comes the LONG walk to school, with our neighbors and friends. (long meaning 12 minutes!)
Can't forget the backpack
Waiting on the bench till we can go into the classroom...and realizing your mom wrote your name on your backpack
It's time!! Dads are super helpful to have around on the first days...helps keep the jitters away
(This is where he ventured off, then came back and gave me a hug!)
After school we got a picture with who's sure to be the most favorite Kindergarten teacher ever!!
Mrs. Sexton is the best!
He survived and enjoyed it, but has HATED how much people keep asking him about school. It's hilarious. "Why does everyone keep asking me that?!?"
We sure love our kindergartner and we're so excited for what his future holds, and ours too!!
