Maxwell Falls

Dudes, this is three days in a row.  Are you so proud?!

Cameron had the day off today, so we decided a last minute hike was in order!  While I showered and got ready, Cameron looked up hikes near Denver.  We REALLY wanted to do the Eldorado Canyon State Park but it's pretty near a fire right now and closed :(  So we went a different route and went to Maxwell Falls instead.  We had the option of a short in and out, 1 mile round trip or a 3 mile loop.  Seeing as it was KiKi's first hike and threatening weather impending our doom, we went with the shortie-but goody.  Here's a few pics of our day!  We all LOVED getting outside and hiking around, we have missed doing stuff like this!  We have several more hikes on our to do list for this summer!

Here we are!!  I'm pretty sure I let out an actual squeal, I was so excited to be out doing something fun!

SO beautiful up there (this is just outside Aspen Park up 285, for all you CO peeps)

Kai jumping down the trail.  He is an awesome hiker, just ask his Papa!

KiKi did great for her first hike, although she whined a bit having to go over rocks and tree roots.  But she was a trooper and said she had fun.

Thank goodness for directions :)

Climbing the 'huge' boulders :)

Kai needing his own picture!

Found the perfect shady spot to stop for lunch

Thanks for indulging a close up kiddo!

Hungry dad.

Our beautiful view at our lunch spot

Proof that I was there too :)

So, it's called Maxwell FALLS, right?  This is the closest we saw to a fall :)  I guess next time we go in May, during the run off!

I just wanted a cute picture of her so bad with the trees in the background.  Not so much.

My fave new pic...too bad dad was taking it and wasn't in it :(

We had a wonderful day, and came home just in time for everyone to take naps :)  Now THAT'S what I call a good day!

Scary

So if you follow my Instagram pics, I posted a picture last night of some crazy weather we've been having.  Combined with that, all the fires all over Colorado, Cameron's sister's family being evacuated in UT (in the middle of a suburb subdivision no less)....I've decided it's time to get prepared.  Hopefully it's not too late.  I've felt kinda panicky all day...the kind where it finally shoves me into action, ya know?  So all day I've been doing some research, making lists, and putting things together.  Tomorrow is shopping day and start putting 72 hour packs together.  It feels good, at least putting my mind together, you know?  I've been following this gals' blog

http://www.yourownhomestore.com/would-you-be-ready/

and I am feeling good, despite the fact I don't have anything to take out the door with me.  But I will!  Soon!  If you have any tips or tricks or suggestions, feel free to leave them in the comments.  Next family home evening is going to be our Emergency Plan night where we all get on the same page and hopefully will be able to finish up our packs, if they're not done already.  Better safe than sorry, right?

It probably helps I decided to do this on a thunderstorm day :)

And since my posts are super boring without pics...here's the picture I posted last night.  It's from my camera on my way to work...and in interest of full disclosure I took it a couple weeks ago :)

Clive Cussler

So I've had a lot of time on my hands lately, and have been reading a lot.  I can't get enough of Clive Cussler and his Dirk Pitt adventures!  My favorite so far is Inca Gold.  I happened to buy it at a used book sale and imagine my surprise when I opened it up at home to read it and found this!!

A signed copy.  Sure, I'm not "Rick", but I'll take it and feel cool anyway :)

Thud

that thud you just heard was the sound of my parents hitting the floor, now that I've posted again :)  Sorry mom and dad.

Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, even though I've started this post, I just feel like I don't have a lot to say.  We are still living with Cameron's mom, although the end is in sight!  Hopefully by August we will be on the hunt for our own place!  It can't come soon enough, but good things are happening in the meantime, so I'm trying to be patient.  I'm still working at Pottery Barn and loving it.  Cameron still has his job and it's getting better, so that's good too!

So, what's up?  Maybe I'll share a few pics of what's been going on.  I've been addicted to Instagram, so feel free to follow me there if you want a more minute to minute goings on with my life :) And these are ALL phone pics, because I haven't touched my camera in months.  Can't wait to someday feel like myself again!

Bought this table at Goodwill for $34 bones

Turned it into this table for $50 bones :)  I am super in love with it and have mad plans of building a bench for one side, and parson chairs for the other!!

Been amazed at how fast this thing is growing up.  And apparently hitting phase 2 of the Terrible 2's.

Enjoying the summer with friends :)

Lots of pool days.  If you call 2 or 3 lots.  But lots to come for sure!!
Made another quilt for my sister having her first boy :)

Working on projects around the house
And last but not least, trying to keep this guy entertained!

(I'm sorry for the crappy pictures.  I don't know why some are okay and other's aren't and lets face it.  It's a miracle I even posted at all, let alone try and care about why the pics are bad.  If I ever figure it out, I'll switch them up.  Maybe.  More likely I will just do better in the future.)
