We had a great Christmas! This was the first year Kai REALLY got the idea of Santa and got excited about it...he couldn't wait for him to come! It was a little sad though, because whenever someone would ask him if Santa was coming, he'd say no, I've been naughty! He's so funny, because we kept telling him he was a good kid, but he kept insisting that he cried all day and was naughty. So maybe that worked in my favor! Santa brought him a tent complete with sleeping bag, flashlight, compass and a chair. He loved it! His other favorites was a Bumblebee Transformer, marshmallow shooters (thanks granny and papa!) and pretty much everything! After everything he opened he kept saying "That's just what I wanted for Christmas!" So cute!
Testing out the camping stuff!
The stocking is as big as he is!!!
One for Kai, one for dad!
In other news I had my 34 week dr appointment this week. It went well, the dr thinks it's so funny that I am all baby, she hasn't seen that before. But they do think the baby is measuring big, so I go in for an ultrasound in a couple weeks to see how big she is and we'll go from there. So we'll see what happens in a few weeks!
We're excited for the new year, it will bring a lot of fun things to us I think! Happy New Year to everyone!! We love you!

Ghosts of work Christmas Party's past
So Cameron's work Christmas party was on Saturday. I wasn't sure what to expect, but usually at the very least the parties are an excuse to dress up! His first Christmas party with University of Phoenix was ok...just dinner at a nice hotel. There was dancing, but no one danced, everyone just sat around. The second year was better. Still a nice hotel, nice dinner, but they brought in a comedian, which was fun. We left before the dancing, because most people were leaving and based on last years experience no one remaining would. So with a new company, who knew what to expect?
Well the first difference was we received an actual invitation. This was a well thought out, multiple insters for different things, nice cardstock invitation. Impressive. But still could just be a nice dinner with "dancing" that no one would do. Well last week we received a huge gift basket in the mail, full of godiva chocolates and yummy cheeses and things of that nature. A nice perk. Then this past week, we learn that a contestant from American Idol is going to come and perform! Nice! This could turn out better than we thought!
So we get there last night, it's at a super nice hotel. We had received a raffle ticket so we could choose one of 25 prizes to be drawn later that night. The cheapest of the prizes was $100 with at least half of them well over that amount. There was also a raffle we were entered in to win a trip. Then they had photographers there taking pictures...and they were free! Nice matted pictures, not just flimsy photo paper (which is still fine, but we got more than I expected). Our photographer gave us 2 extra pictures to send to both of our parents, because I'm so hugely pregnant and she thought it was cute! All free. (Maybe I'm used to cheap things, but I couldn't get over it!) Then we had a great dinner with a nice program showing all the billions (yes billions) of dollars worth of projects that had been done over the past year. And oh yeah, bonus? They are changing their 401k match from 125% (awesome, we know) to 150%. Unheard of. Starting January. So then they announce the American Idol singer...it's Kristy Cook from this past season, she made it to the top 10! She was really good...much better in person actually! Then as a surprise, we had two of the dancers from Dancing with the Stars come! They danced and performed a few numbers for us. We also had retired 4 star generals there, one of whom who spoke, senators...and lots of bigwigs who work with the department of defense. All in all it was a fantastic night, people danced/moshed, it was hilarious to see professional adults moshing to Lady Gaga Poker Face! Someone proposed to his girlfriend on stage, which was fun, anniversaries and birthdays were celebrated. It was such a great evening, and such a great time to reflect on what a fantastic company Cameron works for and how lucky we are to not only have a job, but this one AND that Cameron loves it. We're so blessed! Plus I got to dress up again, and what's not to love about that?!

The wedding!
We went to UT a few days ago for my sister's sealing. It was so great, we were so happy to be a part of that experience! It was a fast and furious trip, but we did it and it was worth it! Thursday we drove out with only one bad spot the whole way, which was so fortunate! We tried to make it to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert that night, but it didn't happen. But we did make it to Temple Square and it was beautiful. We did get to see A choir, not the one we went for, but good nonetheless!
Us waiting in line for the concert we didn't see.
The next day we woke up, went and took pictures with Kaylynn and Tim, then the sealing, then the reception. It was a busy day, but thankfully we took pictures before the sealing, because the temperature dropped significantly after the sealing! Keep in mind, pictures are VERY unedited, I have no software on my computer right now for it....hopefully it'll happen soon! Santa?! Just a taste of some of the fun we had!
After the sealing...
The reception....Kai at first refused to dance with any girls, but then he danced with all of them! Funny kid!
Does this dress make me look fat?The infamous cake. It ended up not getting any fondant, not due to a lack of trying, but time and energy!!! Thank goodness for moms who can fix messes, it turned out nice anyway! We also got to stay nights at Cameron's sister's house, so we got a lot of family time!! It was a great weekend!

What is normal?
I ask this question, because we woke up to record breaking lows this morning...it got down to -17 last night. My husband assures me this is "abnormal". But I have to say, since I have moved here 2 1/2 years ago...no season has actually been "normal". It's always hotter than normal, or colder than usual, or drier than usual or more wet than we normally get. So I ask again, what is normal? The only consistent answer I get is "That's Colorado for you"....and I have to say...that gets old REAL fast. I don't think people here actually know what normal or consistent is. Not to say it doesn't make for some interesting days, and it's easy to strike up a conversation about the weather, because it's always doing something different than expected and "normal".
I think he's just saying that to give me hope and to get me to stay here ;) Good thing I like change.

Updates
Thanksgiving was great! Cameron's cousin and her family came to visit/had a hockey tournament over Thanksgiving. I had never met them before, it was so fun to get to know them! We had a nice few days...but exhausting! Bed no earlier than 11:00, up by 7:00...it was rough for me! But it was good and Kai loved his "new" cousins!
**************************************************
30 weeks and counting! My appointments are now every 2 weeks, which is a great countdown! It makes it go by so fast! I only had to take the 1 hr glucose test, which was fantastic! The 3 hour one is killer! And besides the fact that this child sits on my sciatic a few times a week and insists on using my bladder as a trampoline...we're doing good! I have some good countdowns to help pass the time and before I know it she'll be here!
**************************************************
One of those countdowns is my sister's sealing!! She's getting sealed next Friday to her hubby! We're going out next Thursday and coming back Saturday. It'll be a fast and furious trip, but we're excited to see the family! I also get to attempt the wedding cake and take the pictures....wish me luck!! I am excited though, it'll be fun! And while we're out there we got tickets to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert! It's Thursday night and features Natalie Cole, which I am so excited about!!
**************************************************
That's about it for updates! I lead a very boring life right now! I am regretting that I did not do more on my "To Do before the baby comes" list, before I got so big! 20 lbs hanging off your stomach makes for a sore back after a short period of time! Speaking of my bigness, I promise my family that I'll get a picture up here soon! We're going to A Christmas Carol on Friday night at the theater, so I should be presentable enough for a photo op!
**************************************************
Peace out!

I'm goin' green!
And no, not the eco-friendly kind. The kind where I turn into a big green monster of envy and jealousy!!! But thrilled too! Two friends of mine who were expecting had their babies today!! Both girls...one was overdue, the other "under" due..! I have to say all this baby stuff makes me realize how much longer I have...and how much longer I wish I didn't have!! But I am so excited about all the babies....and I'm the next one, so that's exciting too!!! Congrats to the new mom's!!!

Halloween!
Kai was so excited for Halloween this year! He's been asking every day when he could dress up and go trick or treating! Finally the day arrived! He actually said Trick or Treat this time, and he had a blast!
Optimus Prime pre-trick or treating:
Post trick or treating:
This is today...about an hour ago. I told him he could eat some candy...he sat here looking at his candy for about 10 minutes trying to decide what to eat! I couldn't help taking a couple pictures.
What's a kid to do?

I can't believe I'm saying this...
But I think we need more testosterone around this house! Kai was eating some smarties from his halloween candy. He'd take a smartie, hold it up on his shirt and tell me to compliment him on his new necklace. So I say "Oh Kai, what a nice new necklace!" His reply? "Thanks mom, I made it myself." Oh boy!

Snow Days
We have enjoyed a couple of snow days, yesterday and today. Cameron got to come home early yesterday, and is working from home today. We've gotten a ton of snow, we made donuts, and have enjoyed being snuggled up in our warm house! This morning Cameron thought he'd get out for some early morning basketball at the church gym. He took my car out to see how it handled in the snow, if we needed new tires (they are supposed to be all season). About 7:30 I get woke up by a hubby that couldn't wait any longer. He said he tried to stay downstairs, but he couldn't any more, he had to wake me up and tell me. He wrecked my car. (his words, not mine). Turns out the tires are NOT good in the snow and just as he was getting to the church he spun out, the back wheel hit the curb and bent in. It's totally un-drivable, he got a ride home from a friend (they didn't even get to play basketball, not enough people showed up!), and called for a tow. Poor guy was so nervous to tell me, I felt bad for him! I did have to tease him a little, that he always manages to ruin MY favorite cars (like my NEW car, the day of our wedding!...another story for another post). But really I was so grateful that he was the one to test drive it in the snow, I hate driving in the snow. It could have been so much worse, we could have all been in there, it could have been Kai and I, it could have involved another car, somebody could have gotten hurt....there were a lot of other scenarios that could have happened. So we're back down to one car for a little while! Oh well. At least we know now! And even though he's the one that wrecked it, I'm the one that feels bad that he was so scared to tell me :( I guess I'm a big fat meanie!

Should I be worried?
Kai: Mama? (....voice is heard from the bathroom)
Mom: What, baby?
Kai: Uh, I using paper towel!
Mom: Uh.....huh?
Kai: I using paper towel!
Mom: What for bug?
Kai: ........ *crickets chirping*
Dad: Kai, what are you using the paper towel for?
Kai: Uh....I'm done talking now.
Cut scene. I don't even want to know!

His girl
Kai and I were watching cartoons this morning, and because it's SNOWING today, it's a little cold in our house. So Kai comes up to me on the couch and asks if he can snuggle with "his girl."(he has started calling my belly his girl) I about died, it was so cute. Then once he got snuggled under the blanket with me and my belly, he looked up at me and told me he was going to be the best big brother ever! Such love already...hopefully it sticks around once she gets here!

Willy Nilly
Feel free to judge away...willy nilly. What I am about to tell you will bring about different reactions....all of which I am prepared for! But I will warn you that if it's too harsh a reaction, I will tell you to chill out. :) So, Saturday morning I lazily get out of bed and wander down to my husband and son, watching football, trying to record the BYU game, which we won't go into now. I go and cuddle up next to my husband, who all of a sudden jumps up to check his computer. I ask him what he's doing and he says he has to check to see if he won tickets. I was like, to the BYU game? That's not even possible, it's today, in BYU, why would you have done that? Anyway, whatever. Well he checks his email and he has an email from 850KOA, saying he won BRONCO tickets for Sunday's game! Oh, well that makes a lot more sense! So he freaks out and starts telling me about how he heard on the radio they wanted Brown/Bronco Father/Son stories. He had one, so he sent one in, then later heard that they would be picking the top few stories and send them to the Brown/Bronco game on Sunday. So (here's where you start judging us) we went to the game yesterday! It was the first game I've been to since we've moved here, since they almost never have a Monday or Thursday night game here.
So I learned a few things at the Broncos game. Besides the fact that we kicked butt yesterday, no thanks to Orton, but that's another rant for another post...which won't actually happen since I don't actually care that much to write about it, but irregardless I can't watch him play without thinking he's definitely NOT all that and a bag of chips, and lets face it, with my husband, all games will be watched. Back to the lessons learned. And I should preface this with saying that this was not my first NFL game. It was my second. So you see I have a lot of experience in this field. And this first lesson just confirmed what I have already come to love about Colorado. Everyone is so DANG friendly! On the lightrail to the stadium we had to share seats with these nice old ladies...one of which we found out that Paul (you know from Paul and Susie, no you are not actually supposed to know) just had surgery, and while he's doing better he couldn't walk up something..? She's also from St. Louis and her daddy always had the game on, etc. I could go on, literally, about the free lunch she got, and what she ate during that lunch and how she had it switched from the spicy to the non spicy because she can't do spicy.... but I digress. Then the game started. Holy fans! It was so much fun! That stadium is so crazy! They are so into the game, the stands were shaking all the time, we all got loud and into the game. It was fantastic. The other game I went to was nothing like that....of course that was also the Cardinals before they were anything. And the fans all around us kept high-fiving each other, even though they didn't know each other. At one point a candy bag got passed around, we handed it back, and watched it make it's way down 5 rows and over to the other side of the section. Someone brought candy and told them to pass it around (it was sealed, not poisoned, don't worry). And it came around twice during the game. Just so friendly! And we were fair. We may have boo-ed the Browns....but we also boo-ed our own...well a certain key member of the offense, when he made lousy reads. Which was a lot. So we are fair!
Some other things I learned, which I'd like to think made up some of going to a game on a Sunday. Can I just say how grateful I am for the gospel? Ok, so I went to a game on a Sunday, probably not living as I should, I will justify it how I want, because I wanted to go! Anyway, we went to get a hotdog during halftime and I watched the smoking section get so packed full that people were literally smoking in each others faces. One wouldn't even need to light up to get the full effect of the cigarette if you were standing in that section. After the game we walked down the 5 flights of ramp? It was a big long ramp, not stairs, you get the point. At one point we get to a flat part, and find that a man had fallen down...well we were concerned at first, then his family was around him, all embarrassed, he already had a brace on one wrist...he was totally drunk and just fell over. Then a little past that part, still walking down the ramp, we get rammed into, not a huge deal since there are thousands of people trying to leave, so we look behind us, it was this random guy with a huge orange mohawk, holding his hands up in the air yelling go Broncos. So he rams into us, we turn around to look at him, and then he proceeds to tell us how much he loves us. "I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!" Yessss.....apparently not as much as you love your alchy-hol, and please tell me you're not driving home. You could smell the next day hangover on him, it was pathetic. And these people are just making fools of themselves. How glad I am to have the word of wisdom, to know that those things aren't actually fun. To be able to wake up this morning and be able to remember my experience at the game yesterday, not have a headache, not having been a menace to a pregnant lady and her husband.
So while I may have not kept the Sabbath Day holy as I should have, I was reminded how grateful I am for what we know and believe.
On a totally different note, another highlight of this weekend was the most amazing find I found at Kohl's. Which is my most favorite store anyway, so it's not hard to believe I found something else there I love. But THIS takes the cake. Their holiday candles. Holy smokes. You think you've smelled a candle. And every single scent is mouth watering. Literally. You smell the Harvest Apple, and you can literally feel the apple cider sliding down your throat. The Carmel Pecan and the Roasted Chestnut are like biting into the most delicious dessert you have ever smelled. So we got one, opened it up Saturday night, and haven't even lit it yet, because the smell is so great and perfect we haven't even had to light it yet. Moral of the story? Go buy as many as you can today. It's the last day of the sale today, they are $4.99 from like $12 or something. Just don't go the Kohl's by my house, because I'm headed there as soon as Cameron gets home. I need three of each.

Big Brother
So Kai is very into being a big brother. He is very concerned with eating the right foods to make him big and strong. I asked him what he wanted for lunch today and he told me that while macaroni and cheese is good and makes his body happy he needed a dinosaur sandwich to make him big and strong. This kid cracks me up! So dinosaur sandwich it was! He also is into taking care of "Beary" his new baby? and making sure he is taken care of. Here is a picture of him getting Beary ready for his nap time, I couldn't resist taking a picture :)
He made sure that Beary had his book ready. What was so cute is that it took him like 10 minutes to get everything "just right". So cute, I love it!
And for my family who doesn't get to see the hugeness I am becoming...a few pictures! Ok, I use the term huge loosely, but I will say that I wasn't this big with Kai until about 7 months....so for me to be almost 5 and this big is something...no matter what anyone says! And the pictures are not great, it's hard to see with the shadows, but here you go anyway! (And I am bigger than this already too, this was a week or two ago)
Kai kissing his baby sister :) We took him to the appointment with us so he could see the baby and when we told him it was a girl he started jumping up and down around the room clapping. Pretty sure he would have done that with a boy too....but it followed my sentiments exactly! And he loves the ultrasound pictures, he can point out her nose and lips on the profile and he loves to look at his sister. Too cute!
And for those wondering, no, we don't have a name picked out. We actually have decided we are not going to tell the name until after she is born. There have to be some surprises! So there you have it! Baby girl Monteath until after she is born. I'll try to keep pictures updated for you Kaylynn and Rachel!

Here I was...
all prepared to have a great post with some exciting news that I have, and then this morning happens. Who in the world would authorize someone to come jackhammer and rip out my next door neighbors cement stairs at 8:00 in the morning? Okay okay, I get that I should probably be awake and productive and whatever. Whatever. That's what I have to say about that. But here I am, laying half awake trying to doze a little still, and all of a sudden my house starts shaking and I hear the most horrendous sounds. So I get up, look out the window and sure enough, they are ripping out the stairs to the townhouse next to us. Don't get me wrong, it needed to be done like 2 years ago at least. So the complaint is not that they were actually doing something, because heaven forbid they get wind of that and never do anything again. But 8:00 in the morning? Really???? REALLY????? Thank goodness my son was already awake, or I really would have gone out in my pajamas and given them some pregnant woman rage. Because believe me, there was rage. Okay, it really wasn't that bad, and although I was annoyed I knew I needed to get up anyway...it's just having to have that be the reason. ANYWAY.
Needless to say I wanted to announce something fun, but I am too tired and out of my groove thang to think of anything clever....so something on my blog somewhere has changed to let you know what our ultrasound let us know! And it's not difficult and really dumb, but there you go :) And by the way, we are very excited!!!

Kai-isms
So Kai has been cracking us up lately. He will come up with these sayings that we have never heard him say before, that are perfect timing, and we don't even know where the heck they come from! A week ago after church Kai and dad were wrestling upstairs on our bed, Kai's favorite game. Well Kai comes downstairs a few minutes later and curls up on the chair and starts pouting. Cameron asks him what's wrong...
Dad: What's wrong bug?
Kai: My life is ruined!
Dad: (Trying not to laugh hysterically).....uh, your life is ruined?
Kai: Uh-huh.
Dad: Why is your life ruined?
Kai: You keep fighting me.
That's all. Where he even heard the phrase his life is ruined, we have no idea. How it came into that context, we have no idea! So random.
Friday night we were at Cameron's soccer game and I had a pain in my side, so I was holding my belly. Kai comes over, sees me holding it and that it hurts, looks at me with the most concerned look I've seen on a 3 year old, tells me the baby is starting and we have to go to the doctor! We haven't ever told him what will happen, I don't watch the baby shows or anything like that. How weird?! Then he proceeded to tell a friend the next morning that mom was having a girl and when the baby started we had to rush to the doctor. Where does he get this stuff?! And it's not like it's incorrect and made up, but it's things we have never told him or said, and he just pulls it out at the right moment? Just to clear up something, we don't actually know what we are having yet! Kai goes back and forth every time we ask what he thinks we are having...and no, it's not twins one of each, we already know that!
Last night took the cake though. We were upstairs in my bedroom, Cameron was trying on some new jeans we had got him awhile ago (he loves that he can wear jeans and shorts at his new job!). So he was trying them out, and they were a different fit than his normal ones. They were a little "lower" rise, and a little tighter around the hips. So Cameron starts swinging his hips around, commenting about his hip action and something about his money maker, being a nerd as usual! Kai meanwhile had been eating some dessert....looks up at dad and says.....You said it, Boy! What?! You said it boy? Where did that come from?! We were cracking up so hard. So funny.
We sure love our boy! He's going to be a great big brother!

Wedding fun
My sister got married this past weekend in Missouri! It was so beautiful, Kai got to be the ring bearer...he was so proud of his duties, he's still talking about what a good job he did carrying the pillow...and he did! The groom is from New Orleans, so they had a Mardi Gras theme for their reception, it was so fun! They had a live band, Gumbo, and Kai's favorite, the masks! It was a great weekend!
The ring bearer is ready!
The bride and Kai....he was a little hungry (translate: crabby), but we put a few Hershey Kisses in his belly and he was better :)
Almost husband and wife....
The music was a little loud for him, but he eventually got into it!
Mardi Gras fun!Congratulations Chelsea and Sean!! We love you!!

Catching up on the Summer of '09
So we had some adventures this summer! First we found out I am pregnant! We have been trying for some time, so we were excited to find out it had finally happened! We don't know what it is yet, but I am due February 7th! It did put a small cramp in my summer, being sick all the time, but it was a quick way to lose those 10 lbs I'd been trying to lose!
We went to my parents house for the 4th of July, it was a lot of fun! We went to Kolob Canyon and saw the "Five fingers"....I just love that part of the country! Us in front of 2 of the fingers.
We were able to go to Powell for the first time this summer! Cameron had been before in his single days, but Kai and I hadn't been before. My uncle has a houseboat and invited the family down! With 25 of us it was a packed boat, but lots of fun! The water is definitely our favorite place to be!
Swimming in the water next to the boat, it was murky, but Kai LOVED swimming "all by his self!"
His favorite part was the jet ski! He loved to be out with dad or I, but no one else could take him.
The tube was not his favorite part, but he held up well!
Cameron catching some air one morning.
Jet ski frisbee. It was so fun to watch! We had the two jet ski's with our drivers and catchers. My uncle would stand on the top deck of the houseboat and throw the frisbee....as soon as he threw it the jet ski could go after it. Harder than it sounds, but it was so fun to watch. This is my cousin Evan diving into the water...but he got it! At one point we were all 25 on the back of the boat watching....didn't think about the engines that were back there.....being flooded.....good times.
Then we went to my bff's house in ID for a couple of weeks. I forgot my camera, but we had a great time! We made quiet books, went shopping and watched chick flicks. It was a great couple weeks!
We were sure glad to get home to dad, we'd been away from home for 1 1/2 months...it was too long! When we got back we went to a dinosaur show at the Pepsi Center. We were at the very top of the stadium and these dinosaurs were huge! The Brontosaurus was 85' tall! They sounded realistic and everything! Kai loved it and still talks about all the dinosaurs we saw! Most of the pictures came out blurry, but here were a couple that did come out.
Enjoying some popcorn before the show :)
Brontosaurus...
And the star of the show...T-Rex! He was pretty realistic!Since we have been home Cameron and Kai have been camping a few times, he loves it and has come back filthy and happy every time! You can't tell how filthy he comes home by the mug shot below, but he's a happy camper, literally!
Hopefully I'll be able to keep up more on the blog and keep everyone up to date on the pregnancy! I'll have some pictures of that in the next couple weeks....it still blows my mind how much I'm showing at 16 weeks! So fun!

Summer Days
We had our first swim day of the season this week, thanks to Alisa and her pool! If you notice in the pictures that Kai doesn't look wet...it's because he's not. He refused to get in. It was a toasty 90 something degrees outside and he would not get in! Finally at the end he sat on the first step in the pool. Whatever!
Then we had some fun at the park yesterday. Not quite as hot, it was a beautiful day. And such a fun park! Definitely our new favorite!
He is always picking me dandelions. So..... sweet...?!
His BFF Darren!
Chasing bubbles. Oh to be a kid again!

Weekend Fun!
Cameron had his football playoffs/championship games this weekend. Thankfully it was a beautiful day, so we were able to enjoy the sunshine for a few hours. I got burnt to a crisp but thankfully had remembered to put some sunscreen on Kai so he was fine. Here's a few pictures of our day. (The sun was so bright the pictures were not great, so I did what I could with them!)
Huff and.......
Puff!
Chest bumpin' it!
Big throw!
Gearin' up for the throw
Another huge throw!
Sheesh it's hard work being a kid!
Waiting for his turn!
